2013 Apr 26

University of Montana Western education student and Belgrade, Mont. resident, Shelby Rassley, was recently inducted into the Mu Phi Chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education on April 16, 2013.

Kappa Delta Pi was founded in 1911 by William Chandler Bagley, one of American's most famous educators. Bagley taught on the Dillon campus in the early years of his career, also serving as the vice president and director of training at Montana State Normal School (now Montana Western). During his tenure, he brought national recognition to the institution's education program.

According to the Society's website, it was "established to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching."

Montana Western was founded in 1893 as the state's first teacher education institution. Located in Dillon, Mont., it is the first and only public university in the nation to implement a block-scheduling system in which students take one class at a time.
