Colter Hanson recruited by University of Montana Western football

2011 Apr 8

The University of Montana Western announced its first string of new recruits, tapping 28 up-and-coming players from Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

"We're very proud and excited to announce this lineup of new Bulldogs," head coach Ryan Nourse said. "We had a really late start this year, but the staff worked tirelessly to find tough, physical players who want to be Bulldogs. Each of these guys has the potential to help make the Bulldogs a force to contend with in the near future."

Colter Hansen, a 6'3 205-lb quarterback, comes to Montana Western from Glacier High School. As a senior Hanson threw for 1,995 yards and 13 touchdowns, adding eight touchdowns on the ground as well. Hanson was selected all-conference and academic all-state at quarterback in 2010. Hanson intends to study environmental sciences and is the son of J. and Penny Hanson.

"Colter has a huge upside as a quarterback: he had only one year as a full-time starter, and we were impressed how well he was playing at the end of the year after he gained valuable field experience," Nourse said of Hanson. "Colter has a great work ethic and the desire to make himself into an excellent Frontier player."
